Te Rāngai Ohu Mahi – Paerewa Ako me te Marautanga ā-motu | Skill Standards and ‘National Curriculum’ Working Group information sessions

Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) and NZQA are hosting information sessions to consult on draft Skills Standards with feedback received from this initial engagement to be used inform the future of Skills Standards.

Over the past 5 months the Working Group has been working on the development of draft Skills Standards. Working Group members have been drawn from WDCs, Te Pūkenga, Wānanga, TITOs, Universities, Schools, PTEs, GTE, Tertiary Education Union, TEC, Ministry of Education and NZQA.

The delivery of a simplified qualifications and credential system requires the development of a new education product. Skills Standards will be the core building blocks of vocational qualifications and some other qualifications and credentials. Skills Standards will be developed by WDCs and NZQA, in collaboration with providers, industry and other stakeholders.

Skills standards will be collaboratively developed, and their design informed by ngā kaupapa. Ngā kaupapa form Te Hono o Te Kahurangi, a quality assurance framework gifted to NZQA by Māori involved in the establishment of this framework.

  • Te Reo Māori and Reo Tangata – Duty to Māori and other languages

 

The information sessions will cover

  • Where Skills Standards fit within the qualifications and credentials landscape.
  • Skills Standards definition, development and design.
