We’re proud to highlight the culmination of a major collaborative effort — the development of four key guideline documents for providers.
Each document reflects sector-specific needs, provides practical insights, and acknowledges the evolving direction of vocational education in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Whether you’re developing programmes, assessing learners, or embedding te ao Māori values into your practice, these guidelines offer the clarity and consistency we all need to move forward together.
These guidelines give programme developers, tutors and assessors further clarity round what te ao Māori principles mean in respect of delivery in the food and fibre sector, and provide tangible examples of how they can, and are being applied within programmes.
These guidelines provide programme developers with food and fibre sector-specific challenges and opportunities when developing, delivering and assessing programmes.
The Aotearoa New Zealand education system is transitioning from unit standards to skill standards. This document provides detail about skill standards, including the definition, components, differences to unit standards, guidance on assessment design and the moderation process.
This guide provides considerations for developing and implementing online assessments that align with learning outcomes, support meaningful learning, and enable accurate evaluation.

Programme endorsement
Muka Tangata finishes operations on 19 December 2025.
We are continuing to process applications for pre-moderation, consent to assess, micro-credential support, and programme endorsement. We’re working to our usual 20-day turnaround, but please be aware we can’t guarantee new applications will be completed before we close.
Any applications still in progress at that time will be handed over to the newly established Food and Fibre Industry Skills Board for completion.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss a proposed submission, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible.
