The Muka Tangata Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Food and Fibre Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.
Follwing consultation with industry in September 2024 and April 2025, the following qualifications were reviewed and found to be fit for purpose, requiring only minor updates. These included transferring content to the current template and assigning new version numbers, updating qualification award details and general conditions for programmes, ensuring consistency, and adding programme endorsement information.
Review and transition dates have now been set for May 2030.
Qualifications
Scheduled review dates have been changed for 41 unit standards to maintain their currency on the following equine domains: heath, care, industry, husbandry and saddlery.

We are continuing to process applications for pre-moderation, consent to assess, micro-credential support, and programme endorsement. We’re working to our usual 20-day turnaround, but please be aware we can’t guarantee new applications will be completed before we close.
Any applications still in progress at that time will be handed over to the newly established Food and Fibre Industry Skills Board for completion.
