The New Zealand Certificate in Land Based Sustainability Practices (Level 3) and the New Zealand Certificate in Sustainable Primary Production (Level 4) were originally scheduled for review in June 2025. However, in October 2024, we conducted an assessment to evaluate their current usage and relevance.
Although these qualifications were designed as pan-sector offerings, they are currently being delivered primarily within Horticulture contexts. As a result, the Muka Tangata team recommended that both qualifications be included in a future Horticulture review. This approach will help determine whether they should be updated to better serve their intended purpose or considered for retirement.
To accommodate this review process, the scheduled review date for version 2 of both qualifications has been extended from 30 June 2025 to 31 December 2026. This extension allows sufficient time for the review to be completed and any updated versions of the qualifications to be developed and published.
Muka Tangata finishes operations on 19 December 2025.
We are continuing to process applications for pre-moderation, consent to assess, micro-credential support, and programme endorsement. We’re working to our usual 20-day turnaround, but please be aware we can’t guarantee new applications will be completed before we close.
Any applications still in progress at that time will be handed over to the newly established Food and Fibre Industry Skills Board for completion.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss a proposed submission, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible.
