We are working with Pork NZ and partners to review two key qualifications for the industry group.
The qualification and unit standards associated with the qualifications have now passed their scheduled review date, so this is an opportunity to investigate whether they are still fit for purpose.
We will draw on the expertise of industry to ensure that the qualifications, and any standards that we review or develop, serve the needs of ākonga/learners and are up to date with current industry requirements.
Project scope:
Key milestones:
In May 2025, two livestock-related qualifications were reviewed and approved following sector consultation.
The New Zealand Certificate in Artificial Insemination of Livestock (Level 4) underwent its scheduled five-yearly review. Feedback from the sole provider and industry representatives confirmed the qualification remains fit for purpose, with no significant changes required. To align with upcoming reviews of related unit standards in dairy, equine, and porcine insemination, the next review is set for December 2028.
The New Zealand Certificate in Tuberculosis Testing of Livestock (Level 3) with strands in Cattle and Deer was also reviewed. Consultation confirmed it continues to meet industry needs and remains fit for purpose.
Muka Tangata finishes operations on 19 December 2025.
We are continuing to process applications for pre-moderation, consent to assess, micro-credential support, and programme endorsement. We’re working to our usual 20-day turnaround, but please be aware we can’t guarantee new applications will be completed before we close.
Any applications still in progress at that time will be handed over to the newly established Food and Fibre Industry Skills Board for completion.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss a proposed submission, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible.
