Online professional development workshops for providers a success

A series of online professional development workshops upskilling providers and schools in delivery and assessment practices, held by Muka Tangata, have proven to be a hit.

A total of 21 online workshops have been held during 2023 covering key areas including guides on meeting Workforce Development Council pre-moderation needs, programme endorsement consideration and gaining Consent to Assess support as well as best-practice assessing and incorporating mātauranga Māori into ways of working.

With 100% of attendees saying they would recommend it to their colleagues, the workshops have been a big success.

“I found the moderation workshops incredibly informative for creating alternative assessments,” says Miriam Sherratt, General Manager of Papa Taiao Earthcare which provides sustainability education programmes for schools.

“It gave me a good overview of the how and why of moderation. I definitely feel more confident assessing and training assessors after the training.”

Miriam says that since Papa Taiao Earthcare became a PTE at the end of 2022, Muka Tangata has provided great support setting up systems and applying for consents.

“Muka Tangata’s free service makes it far more accessible to ask for help when it’s needed than previously.”

If you missed out on these sessions last year, don’t worry – Our team has many more online workshops and seminars planned for 2024! More info coming soon!
