Last month, Engagement and Partnerships Manager, Isabelle Coates, volunteered at the Agri Futures Clash of the Colleges 2023, on behalf of her young farmers club. The event saw 300 Christchurch secondary school students competing in a series of food and fibre challenges to showcase their skills, and learn more about the sector.

Students from 11 different schools took part in a wide range of hands-on activities, including wool handling, plant identification, ear tagging, quad bike orientation, and fencing!

We regularly hear from industry that pathways should begin at the secondary school level, so it’s great to see the Agri Futures team and others bring this day to life for ākonga (learners) and promote our sector so well. Congratulations to the competition winners, and all those involved!
