Have your say on new Pork skill standards (Level 3) August 11th, 2025 We are reviewing and updating standards for the Pork industry at Level 3. Skill standards will be replacing the current unit standards to future-proof the New Zealand Certificate in Pork Production (Stockperson) (Level 3) qualification. Working with industry partners, we have developed seven skill standards at level 3. Skill standard 1 – Maintain pig hygiene and effluent systems Skill standard 2 – Support pig health and biosecurity Skill standard 3 – Feed pigs and operate feeding systems Skill standard 4 – Care for the sow and litter from pre-farrowing to weaning Skill standard 5 – Care for weaner and grower pigs Skill standard 6 – Pig reproduction and care of the breeding herd Skill standard 7 – Support pig welfare, behaviour, and handling We are now seeking wider industry feedback on the draft skill standards to ensure that we are creating robust and fit-for-purpose standards.
