Leadership level 5 qualification

Through our engagement with Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service, we have identified an opportunity to respond to industry needs for a qualification to recognise business, leadership and communication skills at a higher level. Since October 2022, we have been working with industry to design and develop a new qualification that will also provide a stepping-stone for employees wishing to move from technically focused roles into supervision and leadership.

In September, Muka Tangata resubmitted the application for the Level 5 qualification to NZQA and have developed three related micro-credential learning outcomes.  We are also developing skill standards that meet the learning outcomes for the micro-credentials.

Next steps:

The qualifications team have peer-reviewed and submitted the three stackable micro-credentials in leadership to NZQA. Currently there are no standards assigned to the learning outcomes however, Muka Tangata developers will continue to develop skill standards in the background as the micro-credentials go through the submission process.
