Pushing pause on Poultry reviews May 12th, 2025 Recently, two Poultry qualifications came up for scheduled review. As per NZQA guidelines, every New Zealand qualification listed on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework at Levels 1 to 7 must be periodically reviewed. These reviews make sure qualifications stay robust, relevant, and valuable for both ākonga and industry. As part of our engagement work, our kaimahi consulted with the Poultry industry to determine how they were placed for the review. It’s a busy time for the industry – they’re currently in the midst of welfare code reviews and Avian Influenza preparations. The industry recommendation was to postpone the scheduled review for Poultry qualifications until 2026. These reviews will be led by the new food and fibre Industry Skills Board. By postponing the review until 2026, we acknowledge the current challenges faced by the Poultry industry. This decision allows for a more comprehensive and timely review process, aligning with industry priorities and ensuring the qualifications continue to meet the needs of ākonga and industry. As a result of this decision, we will make minor changes to two Poultry qualifications by setting new review dates within NZQA, and will roll over the related unit standards: New Zealand Certificate in Poultry Management (Level 4) with strands in Poultry Egg Production, Poultry Hatchery, and Poultry Rearing New Zealand Certificate in Poultry Production (Level 3) with strands in Poultry Egg Production, Poultry Hatchery, and Poultry Rearing
