Skills and training for Māori agribusiness August 29th, 2025 We’re proud of the progress we’ve made on the ongoing actions set out in our workforce development plan for Māori in the food and fibre sector, Te Haumako. Highlights include developing guidance for programme developers to embed tirohanga Māori into programmes, the release of an online Tautoko toolkit, and more. Our progress report, Skills and Training for Māori Agribusiness, details our progress to date. In June, we published a beginner’s guide to Attracting and Retaining Māori Staff – a fact sheet to support employers to begin taking steps to increase their cultural capability, and better attract and retain Māori staff. We were also pleased to see the iwitanga micro-credential developed in collaboration with Te Pou Oranga o Whakatōhea, is now listed on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework – a first in providing a package of learning that is distinct to the mātauranga of hapū and iwi. In the following video, we talk about these projects at the launch of Te Haumako in August 2024.
